○ 초록: This chapter critically assesses Bourdieu's argument that the epistemic reflexivity, as opposed to the postmodern, ‘narcissistic reflexivity’, can reveal how the ‘historical transcendental’ unconsciously dominates the thinking of the social scientists and in that sense can contribute to the objectification of the subject of objectivation. Bourdieu argues that the scientific knowledge objectivated through epistemic reflexivity can help lay agents give up their own, collusive objectivation. In the first part of this paper, I shall indicate the difficulties associated with the exercise of epistemic reflexivity which is closely related to the validation of Bourdieu’s theory vis-à-vis those of his intellectual enemies. By doing so, I shall also indicate why Bourdieu’s attempt to distinguish epistemic reflexivity from narcissistic or postmodern reflexivity turns out to be a failure. In the second part, I shall use a particular example to show that Bourdieu will not be able to help lay agents give up their own supposedly collusive objectivation by using the theoretical knowledge obtained through the process of epistemic reflexivity.
